EVENT DESCRIPTION
Discover the art of rope bondage in this introductory class, which is perfect for beginners or those looking to refresh their foundational skills. Our hands-on instruction will cover fundamental skills like the non-collapsible single column ties, forward and reverse tension, and secure tie-offs. We’ll also explore essential topics such as consent practices, negotiation techniques for rope play, and crucial safety measures. Join us for a comprehensive and enjoyable journey into the world of rope bondage.
This is a BIPOC (Black, Brown, Indigenous, or a People of Color) affinity space only. We welcome any folks who identify as a BIPOC person, and thank everyone in the community for respecting this. If you do not self-identify as BIPOC, please do not purchase a ticket.
This event will take place in Jamaica Plain, Boston.
PRE-REQUISITES
- The person tying should have an interest in rope bondage and be open to learning safety basics.
- The person being tied should have a desire to be in rope and be open to learning safety basics.
- Self-tiers should be comfortable with all of the above.
WHAT TO BRING
The materials listed here are recommended, but not required. All of the below materials will be provided. But if you have them, feel free to bring them:
- One or two 25-30 ft long ropes (5-6mm). Ropes can be your preferred material (example: jute, hemp, nylon, posh, etc.)
- Emergency cutting tool (example: safety medical shears, seat belt cutter, etc.)
- A mat or blanket to sit on.
VENUE & ACCESSIBILITY
- The venue is located in Jamaica Plain, MA. Exact location will be given to confirmed ticket holders.
- The class space is on the third floor of the building and requires walking up two flights of stairs.
- There are chairs but no yoga mats to borrow at this venue, please be sure to bring something to sit on if you’d like space on the floor.
- There is one single-stall gender-neutral bathroom available to all attendees inside the space.
- Please pay close attention to the directions provided in the confirmation email on how to find the entrance to the space.

Parking
- Free parking is available in the parking lot adjacent to the venue. More details in confirmation email.
- Street parking is also available near the venue.
- There is a bike rack for our use.
Public Transit
- The venue is about a five minute walk from the Orange line Green Street location
DRESS CODE
A minimum of underwear (bottoms) while in the event space. You must be street legal when elsewhere in the building, so please be prepared to cover up when entering the building and leaving the event space to go into the hallway or to the bathroom.
TICKETS & PAYMENT OPTIONS
Payments will be processed through Eventbrite with sliding scale pricing. All tickets provide the same entry (1 person per ticket) to the event. Pricing is access-based, not “pay what you want”. If you benefit from systemic privilege, please consider paying more.

IMPORTANT POLICY INFORMATION
- Event details (including address) will be sent out 7 days before the event and 1 day before the event. Please add smartbostonco@gmail.com and noreply@order.eventbrite.com to your address book so our email doesn’t go to your spam folder. If you purchase your ticket after the first confirmation email is sent, you may not receive the address until the day before.
- Ticket sales will close 24 hours prior to the start of the event. There will be no ticket purchases for the event after this time.
REFUND POLICY
We are able to issue refunds, upon request, if we are able to fill your spot at the event. We will also consider issuing refunds in cases with extenuating circumstances. We are always happy to accept unused tickets as donations. If you are unable to attend due to event details that are publicly available (such as venue details, transportation, waiver requirement, or vetting requirements), we do not consider this an extenuating circumstance and reserve the right to adhere to our refund policy.

CODE OF CONDUCT
Please review our Code of Conduct before arriving at the class. A consent workshop will take place at the beginning of class. If you have not attended SBC’s consent workshop previously, you MUST be present for the consent workshop portion of the class. All attendees will be required to sign a waiver and our code of conduct before taking part in any SBC class or event.
HEALTH AND SAFETY
Attendees of all events are encouraged to be fully vaccinated and boosted. We also encourage folks to practice regular at home testing before events to ensure you are COVID negative. Attendees are required to STAY HOME from any event, and notify organizers of their absence, if they are feeling at all ill.
ABOUT THE PRESENTERS
All presenters and TAs at this class are POC.
Curls (glitterncurls)
Curls (they/she) approaches rope as a way to connect the mind and body, savoring everything from slow, sensual flows to mean and challenging predicaments. Their rope bondage journey began with self-tying and continues to evolve through active bottoming.
Chaos
Chaos (they/them), is a nonbinary switch who entered the Boston scene in 2022 . They started their journey as bottom a few years before, but realized their love of switching through the self-tying pipeline. As someone with hypermobility, they also have a keen interest and passion for figuring out ways to adapt ties for bodies with chronic conditions. They approach rope with the mindset of facilitating connection and intention in whatever ways feel good to all involved, whether that’s quiet and intense, goofy and full of laughter, or anywhere in between. While Chaos is more of an introvert, they love giving people the time, space, and a listening ear to nerd out about their rope hyperfixations and special interests.
