EVENT DESCRIPTION
Discover the art of rope bondage in this introductory class, which is perfect for beginners or those looking to refresh their foundational skills. Our hands-on instruction will cover fundamental skills like the non-collapsible single and double column ties, forward and reverse tension, and secure tie-offs. We’ll also explore essential topics such as consent practices, negotiation techniques for rope play, and crucial safety measures. Join us for a comprehensive and enjoyable journey into the world of rope bondage.
PRE-REQUISITES
- The person tying should have an interest in rope bondage and be open to learning safety basics.
- The person being tied should have a desire to be in rope and be open to learning safety basics.
- Self-tiers should be comfortable with all of the above.
WHAT TO BRING
The materials listed here are recommended, but not required. All of the below materials will be provided. But if you have them, feel free to bring them
- Each person planning to tie should bring one or two 25-30 ft long ropes (5-6mm). Ropes can be your preferred material (example: jute, hemp, nylon, posh, etc.)
- Bring your emergency cutting tool (example: safety medical shears, seat belt cutter, etc.)
- A few blankets and mats will be available to sit on, but feel free to bring your own mat or blanket.
SCHEDULE
- 7:30 – Doors Open
- 7:45 – 8:00 – Consent workshop (required for all)
- 8:00 – 9:30 – Rope class
- 9:30 – 10:00 – Open practice
VENUE & ACCESSIBILITY
The venue is located in Jamaica Plain, Boston, MA. Exact location will be given to confirmed ticket holders.
- The class space is on the third floor of the building. There is currently no elevator access.
- The studio is shoe-free. Shoes must be removed before entering the studio space. There are multiple shoe racks right outside the studio door.
- The venue is a 10 minute walk from the Green Street stop on the Orange Line or a 2 min walk from the 41 & 39 bus stops.
- Parking is available at City of Boston Municipal Lot #6 on Burroughs Street. It’s free and only a 2-3 minute walk away. There is also free street parking available near the venue.
TICKETS & PAYMENT OPTIONS
Payments will be processed through Eventbrite with sliding scale pricing. All tickets provide the same entry (1 person per ticket) to the event. Pricing is access-based, not “pay what you want”. If you benefit from systemic privilege, please consider paying more.

If you would like to make a contribution to SBC to support our instructors, opperations, and future events, please select the Donation ticket. Please note that donation tickets do not provide admittance to the event and are not tax deductible.
DRESS CODE
Dress comfortably or as if you were going to a yoga class. Shorts, sports bras, tank tops, and leggings are welcome. Leotards are welcome, but revealing body suits are not permitted. There is no nudity allowed in this class. This is not a play space.
REFUND POLICY
We are able to issue refunds, upon request, if we are able to fill your spot at the event. We will also consider issuing refunds in cases with extenuating circumstances. We are always happy to accept unused tickets as donations. If you are unable to attend due to event details that are publicly available (such as venue details, transportation, waiver requirement, or vetting requirements), we do not consider this an extenuating circumstance and reserve the right to adhere to our refund policy.

CODE OF CONDUCT
Please review our Code of Conduct before arriving at the class. A consent workshop will take place at the beginning of class. If you have not attended SBC’s consent workshop previously, you MUST be present for the consent workshop portion of the class. All attendees will be required to sign a waiver and our code of conduct before taking part in any SBC class or event.
HEALTH AND SAFETY
Attendees of all events are encouraged to be fully vaccinated and boosted. We also encourage folks to practice regular at home testing before events to ensure you are COVID negative. Attendees are required to STAY HOME from any event, and notify organizers of their absence, if they are feeling at all ill.
ABOUT THE PRESENTER
Eric (he/they) has been an active member of the Boston rope scene for over a decade. They organized and taught 101 rope at Rope Bite; they also ran the TNG Diesel Munch for over 2 years. Eric co-founded Waltham Rope in 2019, which has since become Wicked Rope after the pandemic. They aim to make rope as accessible as possible and consider themselves to be always learning.
