CLASS DESCRIPTION
This class is an introduction to Japanese style rope bondage. This is a great class for anyone new to rope or people looking to brush up on their basics.
Topics that will be covered include:
- Consent practices
- Intro to negotiation for rope
- Rope safety & self checks
- Basics of building a rope kit
Skills that will be taught include:
- Non-collapsible single column tie
- Non-collapsible double column tie
- Forward and reverse tension
- Tie offs
PRE-REQUISITES
- The person tying should have an interest in rope bondage and be open to learning safety basics.
- The person being tied should have a desire to be in rope and be open to learning safety basics.
- S elf-tiers should be comfortable with all of the above.
W HAT TO BRING
The materials listed here are recommended, but not required. All of the below materials will be provided. But if you have them, feel free to bring them
- Each person planning to tie should bring one or two 25-30 ft long ropes (5-6mm). Ropes can be your preferred material (example: jute, hemp, nylon, posh, etc.)
- Bring your emergency cutting tool (example: safety medical shears, seat belt cutter, etc.)
- A few blankets and mats will be available to sit on, but feel free to bring your own mat or blanket.
SCHEDULE
- 1:00 – Doors Open
- 1:15 – 1:30 – Consent workshop & community standards (required for all)
- 1:30 – 3:00 – Rope class
- 3:00 – 3:30 – Open Practice
D RESS CODE
Dress comfortably or as if you were going to a yoga class. Shorts, sports bras, tank tops, and leggings are welcome. Leotards are welcome, but revealing body suits are not permitted. T here is no nudity allowed in this class.
PAYMENT OPTIONS
Payments will be processed through Eventbrite with sliding scale pricing. All ticket types provide the same entry (1 person per ticket) to the workshop. Pricing is access-based, not “pay what you want”. If you benefit from systemic privilege, please consider paying more.

C ODE OF CONDUCT
P lease review our Code of Conduct before arriving at the class. A consent workshop will take place at the beginning of class. If you have not attended SBC’s consent workshop previously, you MUST be present for the consent workshop portion of the class.
A BOUT THE PRESENTERS
Sassy and Fearles have been teaching rope since 2017 and are passionate about accessible kink education across the scene. Their kink careers have spanned across multiple communities involving diverse rope styles; including teaching across the US and parts of Europe. The Masochists’ classes often aim to destigmatize kink and help kinksters make adjustments in their play to accommodate their body’s specific needs. They are currently Boston based and are co-founders and organizers of SMart Boston Collab. Always looking to improve their skills and develop their own styles, they consider themselves lifelong students and are eager to keep teaching and learning from the community in the future.
